How self-exclusion works, the safer-gambling tools every UK-licensed casino must offer, and where to get free, confidential help.
GAMSTOP is a free national self-exclusion scheme. You register once, and it blocks you from every UK-licensed online gambling site for the period you choose — typically 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. It cannot be lifted early. Since 31 March 2020, being part of GAMSTOP has been a mandatory condition of every UK online gambling licence, so every casino on Atlas supports it.
Support is free and confidential. GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline and live chat; BeGambleAware offers advice and a directory of services; GAMSTOP handles national self-exclusion. If gambling stops being fun — you’re chasing losses, spending more than planned, or borrowing to play — these services can help, and there’s no cost to reach out.
Atlas shows each operator’s responsible-gambling features (self-exclusion, limits) as verified facts, and never encourages you to play. Gambling should be entertainment you can afford — the house always keeps an edge. Support: GAMSTOP · GamCare · BeGambleAware.
What is GAMSTOP?
GAMSTOP is a free national self-exclusion scheme. You register once and it blocks you from every UK-licensed online gambling site for the period you choose. Since 31 March 2020 taking part in GAMSTOP has been a mandatory condition of every UK online gambling licence.
Can I remove myself from GAMSTOP early?
No. Once a self-exclusion is active it cannot be cancelled before the period you chose ends — that is the point of the tool. Periods are typically 6 months, 1 year or 5 years.
Do all UK casinos offer self-exclusion and limits?
Yes. Every UK Gambling Commission licensee must offer deposit limits, time-outs, and account self-exclusion, and must be signed up to GAMSTOP, as conditions of holding a licence.
